Quackgrass


Growth Habit:
Erect perennial grass, reproducing from seed and creeping rhizomes.

Leaves:
Auricles present: Blade soft, flat may be cover with soft hair. Ligule 0.5mm long. Small leaf constriction often present near the point of the leaf.

Stems:
Culms 1 to 3 feet tall, erect, smooth.

Roots:
Rhizomes yellowish white, sharp-pointed, rooting at nodes only.

Seeds:
Contained in spikelets, awnless or with short straight awns.

Other:
Roots can penetrate hard soils, tubers, and roots of other plants.
